This morning we
spent some time with Ms. Lauren J in music class. She taught us about harmonizing
while singing, and we tried to sing Row Row Row Your Boat in a round. Half of
the class started to sing, and the rest of us joined in half way through which
allowed the children to see that two different notes that sound nice when you sing them together can be called a harmony. We also learnt about strong pitches
and soft pitches, and practiced using them both! What a great morning we had
singing songs together on the piano.

Dance Practice!
All week we have
been busy practicing our dances for the special concert in June. We have been
practicing to point our right foot and left foot, and learning about different
levels. When we reach for the sky we remember to go high on our tippy toes, and
when we bend down to the ground we remember to use the squat position to get
very low without sitting on the ground. We have also been practicing our
bouncing up and down without jumping off the ground and exploring different
locomotive movements. We are all very excited for our moms and dads to come
watch up perform and have even started setting up our stage!

Happy Mother's Day!
Today we had a
special day at school for Mother’s day! Moms and dads came to school to see
their children in action. We set up all of their favourite activities
throughout the school and they were able to take their moms and dads around to play and learn with them. We did art projects, played with blocks and trucks, read
stories, and showed the parents all of the letters, words, and topics we have been
learning. At the end of the day we performed a special dance that we had been
working on all week! Before our moms and dads left we finally gave them the
flowers we had been growing from little seedlings. We had a wonderful morning
and would like to thank all of the mom’s and dads for coming to spend Mother’s
Day with us, it was very special!

Happy Birthday Bradlee!
Today
we had a special birthday celebration for our friend Bradlee! We all sang him a
cheerful happy birthday song, and then he gave everyone in the class a
wonderful loot bag with their name on it to take home. We practiced our manners
and said thank you to Bradlee for his kind presents. Next, we enjoyed the
delicious cupcakes that he brought for us and counted how many cupcakes were
vanilla and how many were chocolate. We all had a fantastic morning celebrating
with Bradlee on his birthday!

Bake and Stroll!
Today
was a beautiful warm Friday morning! We all helped to bake a special lemon cake
that we will eat for snack later in the day. We discussed all of the ingredients that we
would need and made sure we had enough of every item. We learnt about the
different utensils we use when baking; a big bowl, a wooden spoon, and a
grater! Everybody got to stir the mixture and watch the lemon zest get
sprinkled in. Once the cake was ready for the oven we decided to go on a walk
through the neighbourhood. We all were securely fastened to one another and
took a walk down Pears Avenue to see all of the beautiful flowers that were
growing. We all had a great time on our special adventure and are so excited to
eat the cake we baked for snack!

Music!
This week we have been working on playing
musical instruments. We talk about the names of the instruments and also the
groups that they belong to. Everyone got a chance to play each instrument while
we stayed with the rhythm and tempo of our favourite songs. We sang jingle bells
in a soft tone, and Old McDonald Had a Farm in a loud tone. We practiced
playing and stopping on command and keeping our eye on the conductor so the
children knew when to get louder and softer. We had a great time creating a
musical band the last couple of days!
