Class 2- Yoga

This week our friends engaged in a super fun and interactive yoga class, with our new teacher! We relaxed our mind and bodies through learning calming breathing techniques, while stretching our larger muscles as we tried different poses. Furthermore, we challenged our balancing skills as we held  those poses and extra beat along with our smiles! We had an absolute blast balancing our minds, bodies and spirits! We felt absolutely wonderful after this experience!

Class 5- Olympic Ringss

Today Class 5 had a great time collaborating art and literacy together! We learnt about winter sports and winter Olympics, the games involved as well as the rings and metals involved. We then made Olympic rings using small paper cups and paints. The children had to keep in mind to make each ring  a different colour, so it represents the real winter Olympics. We then worked on tracing the letters  "Winter Olympics". It was a good learning time altogether.

Class 1- Numeracy Fun

This week our Class 1 friends spend their numeracy time counting colourful numbered, Popsicle's with their friends and teacher. This activity was great as not only were the children able to learn about numeracy while counting, but they also were able to learn letter recognition as their were different letters of the alphabet on the Popsicle sticks. We put 15 Popsicle's on the carpet and all of us counted number 1-15 together as we placed them down. After that, our friends took turns counting them individually. We had lots of fun with counting numbers and learning about the letter in the alphabet. Good job friends.

Class 2- Olympic Torch Craft

Today our friends made an Olympic torch! We made the flame using red paint and collaged it with red, yellow, and orange tissue paper. Then we glued our flame and torch on black paper and used glitter and jewels to fancy it up! This was a scaffold project that the children were able to work on independently. Once finished, they discussed what they created and talked about what they would do if they were in the Olympic games.  We all worked really hard and are very proud of our Olympian torches! Great work friends!

Class 5- Does Musical Exerience

Today our friends from Class 5 learned about musical rhythm. They started with the Teddy Bear song. They clapped to the beat and rhythm. Also, they made movements and sang to different tones of the music. They did a great job singing loud and clear! Next, we sat down to learn the difference between beat and rhythm. We talked about how music with rhythm puts long and short sounds together. All these different sounds make you feel like dancing! We talked about how fun it was to clap the Teddy Bear rhythm. The children played a memory game to hear the difference between a rhythm and a beat. They clapped and counted simple music patterns. The friends really enjoyed clapping different rhythms. Last, the children played the Name Game where they created interesting rhythm patterns using their own names. We discussed who had the longest name with the most claps. Keep up the great work Class 5!

Another Very Special Birthday

Today we celebrated another of our friend's birthday with our traditional special dances, funny hats and glasses, and of course what would a birthday be without delicious cup cakes! Our special friend brought in Batman themed cupcakes for all of his other friends to enjoy. We secretly think he may even be the real Batman! Seeing the smiling faces afterwards definitely confirmed that his friends did indeed enjoy the celebration with him. Everyone at  LFLF wishes you the happiest of birthdays Batman !
