Melting Expressive Art

Today the friends of LFLF explored some scientific art- using heat to melts crayons! They all were able to use a blow dryer ( with teacher assistance) to create designs and melt their crayons onto a canvas with their name. This was a great science experience as the children asked what was happening and talked about how the heat melted the wax from the crayons to create colours. They were also excited to see how different all of the canvas turned out! Excellent Expressive art friends!

Class 5- Colour Science

This week the friends of Class 5 explored mixing colours together with paint. They used white and red to represent Canada along with mixing them into clear water to see what would happen with the paint. They were pleased to see that the red paint turned into pink, and that with the added water the paint didn't change colour but it changed consistency. Great Work!

Class 3- Bubble Making

Today Class 3 explored the ever fun sport and science experience of bubble making! They added soap into a bucket full of water, and used different tools to play with their bubbles. Catching bubbles, exploring the sensory with bubbles and blowing bubbles outdoors seemed like the best way to start this week off!

Class1/2- Zoo Animal Prints

Today Class 1 friends explored Zoo animal prints! This art experience was extra special as we got to explore a variety of animals that we see at the zoo! Furthermore, we learned what their foot prints look like by stomping them on paper! We used a variety of paint colours for our animal prints and shared them with our peers. Some of the animals we used were: hippos, tigers, cheetah, horses, turtles, frogs, and pigs! Not only were we able to learn more about these animals but also used our fine motors as we grasped them to stomp them on paper and make observations of our prints. Great work friends!

Class 1 -3D Canada Day Hats

Today Class 1 friends designed Canada Day hats. We started art today by organizing red and white paint on the art table. Once our supplies were ready for use, we be started stamping white hearts on our hats to share our love for Canada! We then used a paint brush to paint our maples leafs red. This enabled us to work on our fine motors by grasping onto the stamp and paint brush to design our hats! Behind our hats is a special cup. However, it's not just any cup but it's a Canadian coin cup! Placing coins in the cup will help keep your Canadian hat on display! We can't wait to share our hats with you around the front foyer! We love our country! Great work friends!
