Canada Week, Expressive Arts & Special Treats

Canada day quickly came and went but our little ones still have tons of Canadian pride as they created their own flags using tissue paper. At the end of the week, our friends channeled their inner Van Goh as they learnt about the artist himself and used his techniques when painting. Our little artists transformed into little chefs as they mixed and prepared cookies. We had a fun filled week at LFLF and summer is off to a great start!

On Friday's We Cook!

Today all of the Summer Campers had there first experience baking! For Canada week we decided to bake Oatmeal cookies with white and red frosting to represent the colours of Canada. This was a great experience as not only was it make by the kids for the kids, it was delicious and incorporate science and math!

We started off the first day of summer camp taking turns and telling each of our friends what we did during our summer break! We also discovered we have lots of new faces this summer! We can't wait for what our french teacher has in store for us this summer full of new fun games and songs in french!

Class 5- Canada Day Expressive Art

Welcome back Class 5 ! We had a great holiday time and everyone was eager to meet friends and share experiences about what they did on Canada day. We also learnt about our country , the flag and the Canadian symbols and we decided to make a special art based off this. We decided to give strokes of red and white which represents the colors of the Canadian flag. We then stuck different colored feathers around that represents the different cultures that live together. Then we added some colourful glitter that represents celebrating in Canada together. We had a great time doing the art and everyone represented their ideas wonderfully on paper.

Class 1/2 - Delicious Mellon's

Today Class 1/2 designed juicy summer watermelons! We used glitter, confetti and black shaped hearts as water melon seeds! This was great as we were able to focus on our fine motors by picking up objects with our fingers and using our hands to shake glitter on my melons! Before starting the art activity everyone got a moon shaped red paper to represent our water melons body. We then applied glue on the paper and each friend got a cup of items to place on their melon! Overall, we were all engaged and had a great time creating a summer treat! Great job friends!
