Class 5- Valentines Inspired Art

As we enter the month of February, a very special day is fast approaching: Valentine's Day!
During our art time, we all made our very own Valentine's Day inspired art picture! We used paint and paint brushes and stamps with the shapes of hearts, butterflies, and flowers! We used our imagination to make this pretty artwork! As the children created their unique masterpieces, we talked about what Valentine's Day means to us, and the importance of love.

We can't wait for Valentine's Day!

Class 1- Metal Craft

This week our LFLF Class 1 friends used their creative imagination, building talking about and making gold metals, during their art time. At the beginning of this project, we painting on a circle, this helped us use our mathematics skills to identify shapes. Then we glued on the number 1, this also allowed us to use our cognitive abilities by identifying and talking about the number 1. Once finished the metals, our friends asked for lots of sparkles to add onto their art.  Great job friends.

Class 2- Valentines Flowers

Today Class 2 made some lovely Valentine flowers! We started by painting our Popsicle sticks green to represent flower stems. Then we applied glue on a blank white paper and began placing our popsicle sticks and vase over the glue. Once our stems and vase was put in place, we brought our stems to life with heart flowers! Furthermore, we added some glittery sparkle with our brushes! We hope you enjoy our bouquet of flowers around the school!

Class 3- C'est l'hiver!

After being cooped up inside due to the extreme cold weather conditions (sans snow), my friends from group two and three were eager to get outside and play in the freshly fallen snow! We brushed the snow off the toys and hosted a pretend birthday party, where their teacher was showered with yummy sweet treats and birthday gifts. We even had Elsa from Frozen make a guest appearance! Oh what fun! Following our pretend birthday bash, we made snow angels and compared the size of our angels. And last but not least, we concluded our outdoor experience with Ms. Terry's French lesson. We enjoyed learning and the words and actions for a lovely song in French. My friends and I had a delightful, eventful, educational morning outside on our snowy playground!

Class 2- Creative Fun

Today was one of those wonderful days when our curious, confident, creative little group preschoolers took an art project and truly made it their own. Thankfully, this happens often, and it's always a treat to watch! While experimenting with crumbled up paper and paint, one of our little Picasso's decided to dip the crumpled up paper into paint and dab it on another sheet of paper. We were so impressed with the outcome that we all decided to followed her lead. Some friends chose to dip and dab, others dipped and smeared. Almost everyone mixed at least one or more of the primary colors on the table to make new colors and interesting designs. We ALL got our hands super messy and naturally, a little paint our little faces as well! Moral of the story - Pinterest is a great source of inspiration but when it comes down to it, "Art" is about freedom of expression and keeping an open mind. We are proud of our colorful creations and the creative minds behind it!

Class 5- Season of Love

We are learning about Valentine's day and families. Today we made our art work with our hand cutout depicting the finger family and the tree of love by pasting some little hearts around. We also painted the background in Valentine's Day colours. We then added some gems, glitters, golden tissue paper for an extra touch. And put a little bow on it to tie all the love together. We were so happy with our lovey dovey creativity.
