Jr Pre K Fall Fun!

This week our Jr Pre K's have been having a lot of fun with the leaves during outdoor play!We helped our teacher gather the leaves in one pile. Then we helped pick up the leaves and put them in bags. As a class, we talked about the seasons changing and the weather getting colder, which is why the leaves are falling from the trees. When we were almost done picking up the leaves, we all picked up a bunch, threw them in the air and watched them fall down. We all had a lot of fun!

 

Happy Yellow Day!

Today we had a yellow day celebration! The children wore the colour yellow to School. The JK class took turns making a list of what yellow items of clothing the children had on. We then decided to paint only using yellow and variations of yellow in our visual art class. We tinted and toned our yellow paint using white and black. The children then thought to mix in the other primary colours to create secondary colours. We had a great yellow day :)

This month we are exploring the world of colour! 

Our JK Class have been busy learning about the 3 primary colours. We have painted a primary colour wheel and painted our own pictures using only the primary colours. We then did some research and learnt what the Colour wheel is. As a class we used the primary colours to mix and create secondary colours. We had a lot of fun making our colour wheels! 

Pumpkin Carving

On Halloween day the Pre K classes got to help carve a pumpkin! We all sat at the art table and discussed different qualities about pumpkins. The children said that it was orange, round, the outside was hard and that they all had a stem at the top. After the teacher carved a hole at the top, the children all got a chance to put their hand inside, and take out some of the seeds. Afterwards, we talked about what it felt like. Some children said it felt gooey, stringy and soft. Then we came together as a class and told the teachers what kind of face they would like to make. One was scary, and the other one was spooky!

 

 

 

JK Colours!

For the month of November we will be exploring the world of colours. We started our journey today by discussing what we know about colours. We made a sign by mixing our paints together as a team and then we sounded out the letters that make up the names of the colours. The children took turns painting the names of the colours and helped each other to sound out the names. We think our sign looks amazing!

October Project!

This month for our Project we painted and decorated our very own Spooky treat baskets. As individual classes we discussed what colours we identified as spooky. We took turns mixing our colour paints and painted our baskets. We added Halloween sticker characters to the sides of our baskets and added some special candy before we displayed them!
