Our First Field Trip of the 2016-2017 school year

Rain, rain, go away, come again another day! We guess singing the song really did make our field trip to Whittamore's farm a dream come true. It was up in the air all week whether the field trip to the pumpkin patch would be happening or cancelled due to the forecast of rain, but all our wishings & crossing our fingers made today a possibility and we enjoyed a day of learning all about pumpkins, exploring many pumpkin fields, feeding the animals, going on a wagon ride, being entertained by a chicken show, trying not to get lost in a corn maze, and of course enjoying ourselves in all the play areas available to release everyone's built-up energy from working so hard all week.  It was such a blast for everyone to get together & socialize with familiar faces while also spending some time getting to know new faces too. We thank everyone that came out & made this trip a very special one but we definitely missed the few faces that weren't able to make it ... There's always next year! Here's a picture of the awesome LFLF family on the traditional haystack for a group photo and there's definitely more evidence of the wonderful time everyone had on this trip to come on Monday .... Happy weekend everyone!

Pre-K’s: We know our Aa’s!

Class 3 had a good time doing an alphabet “A” worksheet. We discussed the letter “A” and its phonetic sound, and then came up with a list of things that begin with the letter “A” by the sound it makes. Then we did a worksheet that went perfectly with what we discussed. We also practiced our printing and coloring skills all at the same time. All our Pre-K friends did an “A for Awesome” job!

Class 1- Puppet Theatre Time

This week in Class 1,our little LFLF friends spent their time exploring puppets during one of their free play time.To start off with, our friends took turns choosing different puppets all by themselves and did a great job sharing with each other. Then, our little friends decided to have more fun by going behind our mini theater prop with a curtained window with their puppet toys, taking turns to be the audience. When it was their turn, our friends held their puppets and put on a mini-story that they invented all on their own. Our little friends did an awesome job as well while they were waiting for their turn, asking each other “ Can I have a turn?” We love when our LFLF friends are polite and fair with each other. Our friends were having so much fun with this activity. Great job, my little friends!

Our LFLF friends- Gross Motor Fun!

Today we had such a great time improving our gross motor skills by doing stretches to warm us up and then having an obstacle course!

We started by doing our usual warm ups to exercise our muscles and get them ready for some serious movements, followed by some stretching. After that, we all took turns exploring the obstacle course. We jumped on top of different levels of blocks, sat on a chair and counted up to 10, jumped up and down on stars, crawled on the mat and finally tagged our next friend so that they could start their turn. We did it a couple of times and gave each other high fives at the very end because we know we all did such an amazing job!

Class 1 – Pumpkin Fun Paper Plates Part 2

Class 1 continued their exploration about pumpkins in preparation for their upcoming pumpkin patch trip this Friday. They learned about how pumpkins come in many different sizes and shapes. They learned that they are often used for decoration to make jack-o-lanterns with all kinds of different faces. They even learned that they can be used to make pumpkin pie and are so so delicious. Then they continue to paint their paper plates orange from yesterday followed by adding orange tissue paper for texture. This was a fun yet simple art activity where we were able to use our fine motor skills to paint and glue on tissue paper to add texture to our pumpkin plates. First we added more paint to our pumpkins and then once they dried, we spread some glue all over our plates and then we used our fingers to carefully place our tissue paper onto our pumpkins. To add a touch of sparkle, we sprinkled gold glitter. Class 1 did an awesome job with their pumpkin craft. Overall, we had a blast while learning about the physical features on a pumpkin by creating them ourselves. Nicely done, Class 1!
