Musical Fun With Class 5 friends

Today our little friends learned all about rhythm. They reviewed Johnny One Hammer and clapped, tapped, marched and nodded to the steady beat. The friends also sang and clapped to the Show Me Please song with the same steady beat. They also moved to and sang the Teddy Bear song. They then reviewed forte and piano, Italian terms that mean loud and soft as well as their symbols. Then the friends learned that rhythm is made from short and long sounds together.

The friends were so excited that they started experimenting right away and clapped all kinds of beats. They practiced putting the short and long claps together to make different rhythms with a game called Mirror. Each friend got a turn being their teachers mirror and first listening, then clapping back a special rhythm. Next lesson the friends will keep practicing by being each other's mirrors. As a homework assignment each friend has to create a special rhythm at home and share it with everyone in our music class!
