Special Guest Ms Lauren J
Our Special Guest this week was the very talented Miss Lauren J! Miss Lauren J is our piano and guitar teacher from the Royal Conservatorium of Music. Miss Lauren J taught us the Lion King and Under the Sea from the Little Mermaid. She played the piano for us while we sang the words. We learnt about the concepts of fast and slow, beat, tempo and even how to read the music on the sheets that she bought!
Miss Lauren J was a lot of fun and all of the children had an amazing time!

Theatre / Drama
Today we discovered a theatrical world outside in our playground. The children were using the water table and placing the Pirate Ship so it was going up and down the 'waves.' The children all took on roles for the characters of the Pirates and used appropriate drama techniques to extend the play. This includes using different pitches of voice, appropriate Pirate slang, Pirate phrases as well as negotiating the script with each other. Our Pirates went through the bumpy sea to the treasure island where they encountered Dinosaur Bones, alligators and even a giraffe fairy! This impromptu theatre class was great fun and a wonderful way for the children to use their imagination and creativity.

It's a bird! It's a plane!
After using our favourite colour combinations to paint our binoculars, we talked about what we might be able to find outdoors. We listened carefully for chirping birds, so we would know where to find them (mostly in the trees)! We searched high and low and came across many other exciting parts of nature - bugs, clouds, rocks and even an airplane!

Dance Class with Ms Tamar!
Our new friends have joined our Wednesday dance class and we are all having a wonderful time getting to know each other and working together as a team. Today in Ballet we made our pizza pies – ballet first- with our feet and practiced our arms in bra bar. We stepped our legs out to make 2nd position and then stepped back to first to end with a sauté. In Hip Hop we found our street attitude and learnt to bounce to the beat and to put some swagger in our choreography. We finished with some relaxing yoga where the children made downward dog, tree, star, bear, cow and dolphin poses.

Bean experiment
This week we have been growing our bean plants and experimenting with the best way to grow them. Today we decided to try another way. The children wanted to paint their pots and try planting some seeds in them to observe how they would grow. The children used acrylic paints to paint their pots, added some soil, seeds and then water. We sang a magical growing song then placed our pots outside in the sunshine to grow. We are all eagerly awaiting their progression!

Bean Growing Experiment
This week our JK/SK class has been learning about bean seeds. We did some research and learnt that our seeds would need to be planted, watered and put in direct sunlight so they would grow. The children wrote out a list of directions so they would remember how to grow their bean seeds. We decided to do two different experiments:
1. growing the seeds in a cup with cotton wool
2. Growing the seeds by placing them in a bowl of water with no sunlight to see if they sprouted.
We are observing our seeds every day to measure their growth and hypothesising our ideas about what will happen next.
The children are very excited to see what happens!

First week of Summer Camp!
Our first week of camp has been so much fun! We have gotten to know our new friends, played some team building games, played outside with all of our new toys in the playground, engaged in water play, danced, painted, drawn and even gone on a scavenger hunt to the park. We examined some plastic bugs with magnifying glasses and identified them in the bug book. We found great things for our nature garden and even played some group games like volcano, bridge tag and tree hug! We can’t wait until next week J
