Class 5- Group Music Class

Our friends from Class 5 had a fun lesson this week as they practised Teddy Bear Teddy Bear again, singing the words of the song and acting out the movements. We sat down to review how the music could be sung quietly or loudly and about the musical symbols for each. They recapped about the music dynamic symbol (p) which they learned stands for 'piano' or quiet music. Today, our friends learned about the musical symbol 'forte' (f) which stands for loud. They practised listening for the music dynamics, playing a matching 'symbol to the music' game where everyone matched (p) and (f) symbol cards to the ever changing dynamics of the Teddy Bear song. It was so much fun to listen for the song to change from soft to loud and back again! Today we also learned to listen to each other while singing and moving to the song. With a bit of practice our friends could tell - the song sounds a lot better when everyone uses their eyes and ears to pay attention to every other child in the group. The children also practised the song lyrics so that by the end of class they each took a turn performing the song all by themselves! In the next lesson, we will keep practising listening both to the music and to each other's voices. Keep up the great progress Class 5!
